TECHNIQUES

This is a quilt specifically designed  to introduce and teach various quilting techniqques to beginner quilters.  The different methods and techniques will be combined into one quilt demonstrating the following :

Block 1:  Hand piecing  and,

Hand applique 

Block 2:  How to stich curves 

Block 3: The use of triangles 

Block 4: How to do paper piecing 

Block 5: Creating a 3D block

Block 6: Strip piecing  and,

How to use applique paper in an applique with blanket stitch


Machine equipment:

· Sewing machine

· ¼” pressure foot

· Medium grey cotton thread

· Universal machine needle – 80/12

· Hand needle – selfthreading

· Hand needles – Embroidery no 9

· Pair of small scissors  – sharp

· Cutting mat

· Ruller  - 12” x 6”

· Rotary cutter with a new blade

Sewing equipment:

o Fabric:  You can pick your own colour combination, I am just revering to mine to help you to follow my instructions.

- Beidge (light) – ¼m

- Green ( light medium) – ¾m

- Red (dark medium) – ¼m

- Black (dark) – ¼m

o Applique paper A4 size
