Winter in the Free State means Quilt in Clarens. The annual festival has grown from childhood to adulthood. It is the only annual quilt festival in the Free State and has grown over the last ten years from 7 to 330 participants.
The festival has a unique relaxing character due to the locality and the personal touch to everything. This year there will be 8 classes every day. The classes are small and students get lots of personal attention. It is the ideal get away for the beginner quilter and those that want to quilt in a relaxed environment. Bobbin lace; Needle lace; Stained glass; Weaving and spinning have been added to this year's programme.
The festival feeds all the senses: we listen to New ideas; we view the 200 and more quilts; the environment feed the soul and we can touch lots of new fabrics and gadgets!! Soup and sherry is ourdaily meal.
