TECHNIQUES

We are going to learn how to draw a landscape by using a photo.  This does not have to be an elaborate or very detailed.

We will then recreate our landscapes using strips of fabric.

Texture will be added with the using of organza or tulle, wool and embroidery.

Machine equipment:

• Sewing machine
• Walking pressure foot
• Free motion foot
• Glue to make a quilt sandwich
• Medium grey cotton thread
• Universal machine needle – 80/12
• Microtex machine needle
• Jean machine needle
• Hand needle – selfthreading
• Pair of small scissors  – sharp
• Black permanent marker with a 2mm bullet tip
• Pencil 
• Eraser
• Cutting mat
• Ruller  - 12” x 6”
• Rotary cutter with a new blade

Sewing equipment:

  • Fabric:   1/8m of the following colours (if your off cuts are not too small, it  will  also do)
 - 4 different colours  green

 - 4 different colours for the earth (include dark brown)

 - 4 different colours for the sky ( from almost white blue to a dark  blue)

 - Yellows for a sunset

 - If you have, bring fine tulle and organzas (matching these coloures    mentioned above) to create texture

 - Some brown satin if you have for the stem of the tree

  • Thread matching each group
  • Wool with fluff to use as leaves

  • Batting A3 size
  • Backing A3 size
